Today's bakeries are not just about goodies and bread, though. At Scotian Isle Baked Goods, the most popular item is the meat pie.
Owner Joe McDonald's mother Pat and his wife Wendy make the delicious pies -- and they won't give out the recipe -- which draw customers from across Southwestern Ontario.
Scotian Isle displays a Canadian and a Nova Scotian flag.
"My mother and father both are from Nova Scotia and we are very proud of that fact," says McDonald.
Scotian Isle celebrated its 20th anniversary last month.
"It has been an interesting 20 years and we still have the same enthusiasm as if it was our first week, coming up with new ideas and as well applying old steadfast things that have worked for all those years," McDonald says.
